This process occurs initially through a phase of molecular contact or attraction followed by a second phase of some or all of the following mechanisms of action: absorption, adsorption and decomposition which convert odor molecules into non-volatile compounds and reduce both the concentration as the intensity of the odor.

ABSORPTION

All volatile organic compounds and odorous compounds have a degree of solubility with respect to other gases. This allows the compound to be solubilized in the presence of said active ingredients thus encapsulating and lowering activity and malodour formation.

ADSORPTION

The molecules of the volatile compounds attracted by the molecules of the active compounds come into contact with each other, binding permanently. As a result, compounds with a higher molecular weight are obtained, thus reducing their odoriferous capacity.

DECOMPOSITION

Once the contact phase is complete, the active agents react with the odorous molecules, giving rise to other completely odorless compounds. Thus neutralizing the problem of bad odors in question.
